Pousada de Elvas

Pousada de Santa Luzia is a traditional Alentejo-style building located a short walk from the historic center of town, just outside of the city walls.  Much of the town's fortifications from the 17^th C. are well preserved, including gates, curtain walls, moats, bastions, and 2 fortresses, as well as a four-tier aqueduct built between 1498-1622, which is still in use today.  Elvas is located just 12 kms. from the border of Spain and the city of Badajoz.
